Finishing with Oil or Wax
Hand scraping leaves the wood open and ready to absorb finish. The choice of finish can dramatically change the look of your project.
Applying Natural Oil
- Use a lint-free cloth to apply the oil in long, even strokes across the grain.
- Allow the oil to soak in for at least an hour before wiping off the excess.
- Repeat the process 3-4 times to build up a durable and protective layer.
Waxing for Protection
- Buff the dried oil surface with a soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
- Apply a thin layer of paste wax using a circular motion.
- Cure the wax for 24 hours and buff again for a high-gloss shine.
The combination of scraping and finishing brings out the natural character of the timber.
